Delhi Government Appoints New Women and Minorities Commission Leaders
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta appointed Lata Gupta as Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women and Nirmal Jain to lead the Delhi Minorities Commission.
The Government of Delhi appointed new leadership for the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) on July 26, 2026. BJP leader Lata Gupta was named Chairperson of the DCW, filling a position that had been vacant for more than two years following the resignation of Swati Maliwal in January 2024. Joining her as members are Shyam Bala, Malti Verma, Lata Sodhi, Sanrika Sharma Jha, and Renu Bhalla.
Simultaneously, the government appointed Nirmal Jain as Chairperson of the DMC, with Kuldeep Singh and Mohammad Haroon serving as members. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the appointments aim to strengthen the protection of marginalized sections of society and ensure timely justice, aligning the bodies with the governance vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
