Israel Defense Forces Strike Southern Lebanon Over Cease-Fire Violations

The Israel Defense Forces launched strikes in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, following accusations that Hezbollah violated an existing cease-fire. She warned that remaining near Hezbollah operatives, military infrastructure, or weapons sites placed lives at risk and urged civilians to move at least 1,000 meters away for their safety.

These military actions took place while Israeli and Lebanese negotiators met in Rome for a second consecutive day. The diplomats are attempting to reach a long-term settlement to stabilize the region. Hezbollah did not immediately comment on the accusations.
