Prime Minister Le Minh Hung Shifts Vietnam Economic Strategy
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung announced a new economic strategy focusing on collaborative investment to drive annual GDP growth of 10 percent through 2030.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung announced a strategic shift in Vietnam's economic approach during the Autumn Economic Forum 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. Moving away from the traditional model of attracting investment capital, the Prime Minister urged international corporations to focus on "investing together with Viet Nam" by collaborating with domestic firms on technology research, human resource training, and the development of new value chains.
This strategy targets an average annual GDP growth of 10 percent or higher through 2030, with the long-term goal of establishing the country as a global hub for green agriculture, energy, and digital technology by 2035. To support this vision, the government plans to implement regulatory sandboxes for new energy technologies and artificial intelligence while fostering a high-tech workforce.
As part of the initiative, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the World Economic Forum signed a Joint Statement to mobilize resources for sustainable growth. Local authorities also unveiled 12 projects totaling approximately $16.4 billion and announced the first 10 members of the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
