Israeli Forces and Settlers Kill Palestinian Man in West Bank
Israeli forces and settlers killed one Palestinian man and injured at least 16 others during clashes over olive harvests in the West Bank.
Israeli forces and settlers killed 44-year-old Ali Hassan Yasser al-Bazzari and wounded at least 16 others during clashes in the northern West Bank on October 7, 2026. The violence occurred near the village of Burqa, west of Nablus, where settlers reportedly attacked farmers harvesting olives. The Palestinian Ministry of Health and village mayor Ammar Salah stated that Israeli military intervention followed the settler attacks, leading to the use of live fire.
The Israel Defense Forces reported that troops and border police were dispatched after a civilian was injured by rock-hurling. The military stated that a security member and a civilian opened fire during the confrontation, and a commander neutralized a "terrorist" who approached him with a suspicious object. The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that Israeli forces assaulted ambulance crews and briefly detained three paramedics and a volunteer attempting to reach the wounded.
Concurrent violence spread across the region. Extremist settlers reportedly torched a vehicle and attacked a home in Deir Nizam, while Palestinian stone-throwing attacks near Sebastia, Wadi Zarqa, and Khirbet Marjam injured six people. In the southern Hebron Hills, police arrested six settlers during the evacuation of an outpost near Susiya. These incidents occur amid a broader trend of violence during the olive harvest season, with reports that at least 45,000 olive trees have been destroyed across the occupied West Bank this year.
