China and France Discuss Stabilizing EU Trade Ties
Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng met with French diplomat Emmanuel Bonne to stabilize economic relations following a deal to limit hybrid car exports.
Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng met with French diplomat Emmanuel Bonne in Beijing on October 13 to discuss stabilizing economic and trade relations between China and the European Union. The talks followed a deal reached the previous week that may reduce Chinese hybrid car exports to the EU by more than 50%.
He Lifeng stated that trade ties showed "great potential for further growth" and expressed China's readiness to cooperate with France across all economic sectors. The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China noted that the agreement was reached after intensive consultations. The ministry stated the deal ensures a quota for Chinese exports that matches those of other countries while still allowing for continued export growth.
