Larsen & Toubro Ltd secured a major order to develop three Battery Energy Storage System projects for a client in the Middle East. The contract involves constructing battery storage facilities, pooling substations, and underground cables for grid interconnection to provide gigawatt-hour scale storage capacity.
Each facility will feature a four-hour storage system designed to store surplus clean energy during off-peak periods for use during peak demand, supporting renewable energy integration and grid stability. The company will implement liquid cooling technology to improve power density, operational life, and safety.
Larsen & Toubro classifies orders between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore as major, though it did not disclose the specific value of this contract. Following the announcement, company shares rose 0.22 percent on the BSE to a high of Rs 4,094.
