Meta Builds Largest AI Data Center in Louisiana

Meta Platforms Incorporated is constructing its largest-ever AI data center in Holly Ridge, Louisiana. The project has triggered an economic revitalization in the nearby community of Rayville, where local entrepreneurs have opened new businesses to serve the influx of contractors and construction workers.

One such business, Holy Tacos, opened in April 2025 and now derives approximately 40% of its monthly revenue from catering services for construction sites and temporary worker housing. The project has also led to infrastructure improvements, including the installation of traffic lights and the upgrading of substandard roads to blacktop.

Despite the economic gains, the development has created tension among residents of the rural farming community of Holly Ridge. Locals report disruptions to their quiet way of life caused by increased noise and construction dust.
