State Bank of India Targets Rs 200 Lakh Crore by 2030

State Bank of India Chairman C.S. Setty projects the bank's total business could double to Rs 200 lakh crore by 2030 under its Vision 2030 strategy.

State Bank of India Chairman C.S. Setty announced that the bank's total business could potentially double to approximately Rs 200 lakh crore by 2030, coinciding with its platinum jubilee. As of June 2026, the bank's total business stood at Rs 110.01 lakh crore. Setty noted that while no formal milestone has been set, current trajectories suggest a range of Rs 170-180 lakh crore, with the potential to reach the Rs 200 lakh crore mark if the Indian economy maintains a 7-8 per cent growth rate.

Under its Vision 2030 strategy, the bank aims to balance the needs of customers, employees, shareholders, and government regulators, including the Reserve Bank of India. Setty stated that if the economy grows at 7-8 per cent, the bank's balance sheet could expand by 11-12 per cent annually, potentially doubling every six years.

Financial objectives for the period include maintaining a Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio of around 12 per cent and a capital to risk-weighted assets ratio of approximately 15 per cent. The bank also intends to reduce its cost-to-income ratio by 2-3 percentage points through productivity and efficiency gains rather than simple cost-cutting. These efforts will continue alongside the bank's support for agriculture, MSMEs, and the rural economy.
