Larsen & Toubro Wins Rs 15,000 Crore Gas Project
Larsen & Toubro secured an ultra-mega contract worth over Rs 15,000 crore to build onshore sour gas compression plants in West Asia.
Larsen & Toubro secured an ultra-mega contract valued at more than Rs 15,000 crore for the development of onshore gas compression plants in West Asia. The project was awarded to the company's engineering, procurement, and construction arm, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore, to process sour gas.
The scope of work includes the construction of gas inlet facilities, compression systems, propane refrigeration, and systems for handling condensate and produced water. To provide necessary power for the plants, the company's Power Transmission & Distribution business will build two 230 kV extra-high-voltage substations.
E S Sathyanarayanan, senior vice president and head of L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore, stated that the contract marks the start of a strategically important project that will increase gas compression capacity and utility infrastructure.
This win follows other major regional contracts for the conglomerate, including a separate Rs 15,000 crore order for offshore facilities and a Rs 5,000 crore project to build an Automated People Mover for Dubai's Al Maktoum International Airport in partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
