JSW MG Motor India Increases Windsor EV Localization to 70 Percent
JSW MG Motor India is increasing localization of its Windsor EV to over 70 percent following cumulative sales of 75,000 units.
JSW MG Motor India plans to increase the localization level of its flagship electric crossover, the MG Windsor, to over 70 percent. Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra stated the move aims to reduce supply chain risks and support a goal of double-digit overall sales growth by the end of the calendar year.
Since its launch in late 2024, the MG Windsor has surpassed 75,000 cumulative wholesale units. The vehicle recorded 19,000 sales in the first half of 2026, contributing to a 13 percent year-on-year increase in the company's overall sales. In June 2026 alone, the model recorded 4,056 units sold.
The company attributes this performance to its "ABC proposition"—combining A-segment pricing, B-segment exterior dimensions, and C-segment interior space—and its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing model. The vehicle is available with 38 kWh and 52.9 kWh battery options, with pricing starting at ₹9.99 lakh under the BaaS program and ranging up to Rs 18.60 lakh ex-showroom.
Market data shows the Windsor is resonating outside of India's four major metros, with 70 percent of its sales occurring in smaller cities, while 30 percent are concentrated in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
