Oklahoma Sets July 31 Deadline for August 25 Election

The Government of Oklahoma established July 31 as the voter registration deadline for the August 25 primary runoff and state questions.

The Government of Oklahoma established Friday, July 31, as the deadline for voter registration and updates ahead of the August 25 primary runoff election. The upcoming runoff will feature Republican nominations for governor, state superintendent of public instruction, insurance commissioner, and labor commissioner. Democratic voters will select a nominee to challenge Republican Kevin Hern in the November U.S. Senate election.

Oklahoma law prohibits voters from changing political party affiliations between April 1 and August 31 during even-numbered years. Currently, no recognized party has authorized independent voters to participate in the 2026 or 2027 primaries. While runoff primaries remain closed to those not registered with the respective parties, all registered voters are eligible to vote on two state questions appearing on the August 25 ballot.
