Mir Yar Baloch Demands Global Recognition of Balochistan Independence

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch called for international recognition of Balochistan's independence while accusing Pakistan of mass detentions and suppressing celebrations with internet shutdowns.

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch called on the international community to legally and diplomatically recognize the independence of the Republic of Balochistan on August 11, the region's annual national independence day. In public statements, he accused the Government of Pakistan of ongoing repression and human rights abuses, alleging that more than 50,000 Baloch people are currently held in torture cells.

Baloch claimed that the Republic of Balochistan has established an army of 500,000 personnel to confront foreign invaders. He urged the United Nations, ASEAN, the African Union, the OIC, and European states to end their silence and study the history of the region, suggesting that Balochistan's resources could fund global health and education initiatives.

In response to the independence celebrations, the Military of Pakistan reportedly shut down mobile and internet services in Quetta, Kalat, and Khuzdar. These shutdowns disrupted business operations, healthcare, and education. Reports indicate the Pakistani army deployed drones, helicopters, and air force patrols for surveillance and dug trenches around military cantonments and police stations to suppress the festivities.
