Virgin Media Shuts Store and Migrates Users to Rakuten TV
Virgin Media is closing its digital store on November 1 and requiring customers to transfer their movie libraries to Rakuten TV.
Virgin Media is shutting down the Virgin Media Store on November 1, 2026, ending the ability for customers to purchase movies and TV box sets through the service. The company stated that the store "will no longer offer movie or TV box set purchases" after that date.
To maintain access to previously purchased content, customers must transfer their existing libraries to Rakuten TV. Virgin Media recommends that users set up a Rakuten account and initiate the transfer via the store sign-in page as soon as possible, noting, "You can set up your Rakuten account and transfer your Virgin Media Store purchases now."
Following the closure, customers can continue to purchase new releases and blockbuster films directly through the Rakuten TV app. This app is compatible with Virgin TV 360, V6, and Stream boxes, allowing users to buy content directly through the interface.
