Arlo Launches Essential Solar Security Camera for $99.99
Arlo Technologies launched its first solar-powered security camera featuring an integrated solar panel and high-capacity battery to eliminate the need for manual charging.
Arlo Technologies, Inc. launched the Essential Solar Security Camera on September 29, 2026, priced at $99.99. The device marks the company's first entry into solar-powered hardware, featuring an integrated 1.2W solar panel and a 14,790mAh battery. The camera requires roughly two hours of daily sunlight to maintain power but can operate for up to six months without sunlight on a full charge.
Technical specifications include 2K video resolution at 24 frames per second, a 130-degree field of view, and an IP65 weather-resistant rating. The camera also includes color night vision supported by an LED spotlight. For smart home integration, the device works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT, and Samsung SmartThings, while AI-powered features are available via Arlo Secure subscription plans.
CEO Matthew McRae stated that the product addresses consumer desires for security cameras that protect property without the hassle of wires or frequent charging. The camera is available for pre-order in black and white, with shipping expected to begin in mid-October 2026.
