Institutional Investors Increase Stakes in Uber Technologies Inc.

Institutional investors including Fundsmith are increasing positions in Uber Technologies Inc. as the company expands into autonomous vehicles and grocery delivery.

Several institutional investors are increasing their holdings in Uber Technologies Inc., with the Fundsmith Equity Fund adding the company to its second-quarter 2026 portfolio. Fundsmith cited the company's strong network effects and cash from operations, which exceeded $10 billion in 2025, as primary drivers for the investment. Other firms, including Positano Wealth Management Ltd, Osbon Capital Management LLC, and Portus Wealth Advisors LLC, also established or increased stakes during the first half of the year.

Uber is expanding its operational footprint through partnerships with five regional U.S. grocery chains for Uber Eats and a planned launch of autonomous vehicles in Saudi Arabia. Financially, the company reported first-quarter earnings of $0.72 per share on $13.20 billion in revenue and issued second-quarter 2026 guidance of $0.78 to $0.82 earnings per share.

Despite its growth and positive investor sentiment, the company is currently undergoing an AI-driven restructuring. This organizational shift has resulted in dozens of job cuts as Uber integrates more artificial intelligence into its operations.
