North Korea Fires Unidentified Projectile into East Sea

The Government of North Korea fired an unidentified projectile into the East Sea on Monday, October 12. The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed the launch, which marks a continuation of Pyongyang's recent weapons activity.

This launch follows a ballistic missile test on October 3. Regarding that previous test, Kim Yo-jong stated the weapon incorporated artificial intelligence technology that allows it to change its flight orbit at a low altitude.

The escalation occurs amid regional tensions, following a hypersonic missile test conducted by South Korea earlier in the month.
