Georgia Targets 4,000 Illegal Migrant Deportations by Year End
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced a plan to deport at least 4,000 illegal migrants this year as part of a broader migration crackdown.
Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, announced a government target to deport at least 4,000 illegal migrants by the end of 2026. He stated that the government intends to completely eliminate the issue of illegal migration in the country within approximately four years.
The crackdown has already seen 2,203 illegal migrants expelled since the beginning of the year, marking a 70% increase over the total number of deportations performed throughout 2025. The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs recently deported 113 foreign nationals from countries including Russia, India, Türkiye, and Nigeria. All deported individuals are banned from re-entering Georgia under national law.
