Pratt & Whitney Secures Over 800 GTF Engine Orders

Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, reported securing more than 800 GTF engine orders and commitments since the start of 2026. During an announcement at the Farnborough International Airshow on July 22, the company revealed that its total GTF order backlog now exceeds 8,000 engines, with more than 14,000 total orders from over 90 global customers.

Recent commitments include orders from airlines and lessors such as British Airways, AirAsia, VietJet, and Finnair. Additionally, BOC Aviation Limited announced on July 21 that it has ordered up to 220 engines from the manufacturer.

Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, stated that the GTF Advantage engine is expected to enter service later in 2026. He noted that the new engine will provide improved fuel efficiency, increased range capability, and up to twice the time on wing.
