Larry Ellison Pledges $9.2 Billion in Oracle Stock for Media Deal

Larry Ellison pledged 67 million Oracle shares as collateral to help fund Paramount Skydance's $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Larry Ellison, executive chair and chief technology officer of Oracle Corp., pledged an additional 67 million shares of Oracle stock as collateral for personal loans. According to a regulatory filing on September 28, 2026, these shares are valued at approximately $9.2 billion. This move increases his pledged shares by 19% since 2025, bringing the total to 36% of his overall holdings.

Ellison is using the funds to support Paramount Skydance Corp., led by his son David Ellison, in a $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. The Ellisons have committed $47 billion in equity funding for the transaction, which includes $24 billion provided by three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds.

In the same regulatory disclosure, Oracle announced stock option awards for its leadership. Co-CEOs Clay Magouyrk and Mike Sicilia received awards totaling $870 million, while Larry Ellison received a package valued at $117.8 million.
