Oregon and Pennsylvania Election Officials Issue Ballot Guidance

Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read and Pennsylvania county officials are urging voters to submit mail-in ballots early to ensure they are counted.

Election officials in Oregon and Northampton County, Pennsylvania, issued guidance to voters one week before the November general election to prevent mail-in ballot delays. In Oregon, Secretary of State Tobias Read recommended that voters use secure official drop boxes starting October 28. Read reported that 730,011 ballots have already been received, though he emphasized that voters should not take chances with mail timing.

To facilitate ballot returns, the Oregon Secretary of State's office installed 17 new drop boxes using emergency funds provided by the Oregon Legislature. These additions aim to increase accessibility and ensure ballots are submitted securely before the deadline.

In Northampton County, Pennsylvania, officials are addressing issues for voters who have not yet received requested mail-in ballots. The county is offering replacement ballots at the county courthouse and will provide provisional ballots at polling places on Election Day. Both jurisdictions reminded voters that ballots must be received or postmarked by 8 PM on Election Day to be counted.
