Thomas Klingenstein Funds Law Firm to Counter Leftist Lawfare

Thomas Klingenstein is funding the creation of the Project Oversight Law Firm, a new public interest law firm led by former Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark. The firm adopts an offensive strategy to counter lawfare, which Klingenstein describes as the strategic use of legal proceedings to intimidate or destroy political opponents.

The initiative specifically targets Democratic-led efforts like the 65 Project, which seeks to file bar complaints and shame right-wing lawyers. The Project Oversight Law Firm intends to pursue damages, fees, and other remedies to make such legal actions too costly for opponents and to challenge the reputations of those practicing these tactics.

Klingenstein cited the disbarment of John Eastman as a primary example of these tactics. While the American Center for Law and Justice represents Eastman in his appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, the new firm aims to shift the Right from a defensive posture to an offensive one to protect the advocate class.
