Telia Co. Cuts 900 Jobs to Save $100 Million
Telia Co. will eliminate approximately 900 jobs by the end of 2026 to reduce annual costs by 1 billion Swedish kronor.
Telia Company announced plans to cut approximately 900 jobs, representing 6.4% of its 14,100-person workforce, to reduce annual costs by roughly 1 billion Swedish kronor ($100 million). The company expects to complete these reductions by the end of 2026.
As part of a strategy to simplify and localize operations, the operator will transfer about 220 jobs from its technology unit to its country units. This shift aims to accelerate commercial execution and decision-making. Chief Executive Patrik Hofbauer stated that the company must become simpler, faster, and more efficient, noting that further localization means doubling down on what gets results.
Telia expects to register restructuring charges of approximately 600 million kronor in the fourth quarter. While these charges will not affect the 2026 financial outlook or midterm targets, the company anticipates full run-rate benefits for free cash flow by 2028.
