TSMC Projects Record Profits Amid U.S. Expansion Plans
TSMC expects a 65% surge in third-quarter net profit driven by AI chip demand while evaluating new investment opportunities in Texas.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) is projected to report its sixth consecutive quarter of record earnings this Thursday. The company expects third-quarter net profit to rise 65% to T$746.3 billion, or approximately $23.4 billion, fueled by intense demand for AI chipmaking capacity and advanced CoWoS packaging technology.
As a primary supplier for Nvidia and Apple, the manufacturer has seen its market capitalization climb to roughly $2.1 trillion. This growth coincides with increased infrastructure spending by global tech companies seeking advanced AI hardware.
Beyond its financial performance, the company is expanding its footprint in the United States. While TSMC is currently investing $265 billion in Arizona, it is evaluating further opportunities in Texas. These considerations include a potential sublease of the Terafab AI chip complex, a facility Elon Musk announced his companies would build and operate.
