Sandoz Group Q2 Sales Reach $3.01 Billion on Biosimilar Growth

Sandoz Group reported second-quarter net sales of $3.01 billion, exceeding analyst forecasts due to a surge in biosimilar drug sales.

Sandoz Group reported second-quarter net sales of $3.01 billion, representing a 7% increase at constant currency. This figure exceeded the $2.99 billion forecast by analysts at Vara Research. The growth was fueled by a 22% surge in biosimilar drug sales and a 1% recovery in generics, which had struggled during the first quarter due to issues within the anti-infective business.

Financial results for the first half of the year showed core earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rising 9% to $1.21 billion. However, net profit declined to $109 million, down from $377 million in the previous year, a drop attributed to increased legal provisions.

Sandoz shares rose 7.8% in European morning trading following the announcement. Analysts from Jefferies Group noted market relief in response to the results. The company confirmed its full-year outlook, though it specified that these projections do not account for the potential impact of new U.S. tariffs.
