Apple Forecasts 16 Million MacBook Neo Shipments for 2027
Apple plans to double MacBook Neo shipments to 16 million units in 2027 and will launch a second-generation model with upgraded memory.
Apple Inc. has instructed suppliers to prepare for approximately 16 million MacBook Neo shipments in 2027, doubling the nearly 8 million units expected for 2026. The MacBook Neo launched on March 11, 2026, as the company's most affordable laptop, starting at $699 in the United States. It features an A18 Pro chip with 8GB of unified memory.
Initial demand for the device reached record-breaking levels during its launch week. Growth has been further supported by large-scale education deals, including a deployment of 172,654 units by the Philippine Department of Education for teachers and administrative officers.
To maintain this momentum, Apple plans to release a second-generation model in the first half of 2027. This successor is expected to feature an A19 Pro chip and an increase in base memory to 12GB. While competitors such as Dell have introduced similarly priced laptops with higher RAM, Apple continues to prioritize ecosystem integration over on-device AI compute.
