Powerhouse Energy Partners to Build Waste-to-Energy Center in Antigua
Powerhouse Energy Group plc and partners signed an agreement to establish a waste-to-energy research center in Antigua and Barbuda to tackle Caribbean waste challenges.
Powerhouse Energy Group plc signed a tripartite Letter of Intent with the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus and CSE Partnership to explore the creation of a Waste-to-Energy Research, Testing and Innovation Centre in Antigua and Barbuda. The collaboration seeks to address regional energy and waste issues, with a specific focus on managing sargassum seaweed.
The project will combine academic research with the proprietary Distributed Modular Generation technology provided by Powerhouse Energy Group plc. The partners intend to use external funding to build a research-led platform that provides scientific evidence for energy resilience and sustainable waste management. If the center proves successful, the partners envision it serving as a blueprint for other Small Island Developing States worldwide.
The next phase of the initiative involves securing funding, identifying priority feedstocks, and developing a formal research framework. The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus will provide laboratory capabilities and independent data evaluation, while CSE Partnership will manage stakeholder engagement and local liaison.
