French Hill Holds Slim Lead in Arkansas House Race
Republican French Hill maintains a narrow lead over Democrat Chris Jones in Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District as vote counting nears completion.
Republican incumbent French Hill holds a slim lead over Democratic challenger Chris Jones in the race for Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District. With approximately 99% of votes tallied, unofficial results show Hill with 127,427 votes and Jones with 123,025, though the race remains too close to call.
Hill, a leader on the House Financial Services Committee, maintains leads in White, Cleburne, Van Buren, Conway, and Saline counties. Jones leads in Pulaski County and campaigned on affordability while criticizing Hill's ties to the tariff policies of Donald Trump and the war with Iran.
The contest drew significant outside funding, including $1 million from the pro-cryptocurrency super PAC Fairshake for Hill and $2 million from Governor JB Pritzker's Ready for the Fight committee for Jones. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had previously included the district in its Red to Blue program.
In a separate contest in Arizona's 2nd Congressional District, Republican incumbent Eli Crane holds a lead of 3,361 votes over Democratic challenger and former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
