Security Forces Arrest 100 Suspected Voters in Osun Election

Security forces arrested more than 100 suspected imported voters at the residence of Abiola Ibrahim during the Osun State governorship election on August 15, 2026. Authorities allege a member of the Accord Party brought the individuals into the state with newly issued Permanent Voter Cards to manipulate results. Neither the party nor security agencies have issued formal responses to these allegations.

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State and Accord Party candidate, cast his vote at Sagba Agbogunde Ward 2 in the Ede North Local Government Area. He expressed confidence in his victory and urged citizens to protect their ballots. Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesman for the Imole Campaign Council, asserted that the governor cannot be defeated due to his record on infrastructure and welfare.

Voting began early across the state, with high turnout in Ede and Osogbo. The Independent National Electoral Commission managed accreditation and polling, while the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps enforced vehicular movement restrictions and manned checkpoints. However, Olajengbesi accused the Nigerian Police of lacking neutrality and claimed the All Progressives Congress used intimidation and harassment to influence the outcome.
