Gaza Authorities Recover 112 Bodies Amid Rising July Death Toll

The Gaza Civil Defence Agency recovered the remains of 112 people, including 40 children and 38 women, from rubble in the Sabra neighborhood of southern Gaza City on Saturday. The recovery followed 136 hours of manual digging over nearly two weeks, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Colonel Mohammed Abu Dan stated that 157 additional bodies are believed to remain under the rubble at the site, resulting from Israeli strikes over the previous two years.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Health of Gaza announced that 152 people were killed in the enclave during July 2026, marking the highest monthly death toll recorded so far this year. The ministry reported that these fatalities, including 21 children and 14 women, reflect continued escalation in densely populated residential areas.

According to the ministry, the overall death toll since October 2023 has reached 73,349. Gaza officials claim the Cabinet of Israel violated a ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 10, 2025, leading to 1,222 deaths and 4,053 injuries. The United Nations estimates that approximately 90% of civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with reconstruction costs projected at $70 billion.
