Air India Expands Canada Service With New Mumbai Route

Air India is launching seasonal non-stop flights between Mumbai and Toronto and restoring daily service between New Delhi and Toronto.

Air India is expanding its operations between India and Canada, highlighted by the launch of a seasonal non-stop service between Mumbai and Toronto starting October 25. This route will operate three times weekly until March 26, 2027, making the airline the only carrier offering direct flights between these two cities during the winter season.

As of August 1, 2026, the airline also resumed 10 weekly flights between Toronto and New Delhi, restoring daily service. This follows a period in June and July where frequencies were reduced to five weekly flights due to high fuel prices and geopolitical developments related to the war between the United States and Iran.

To support this growth, the airline is deploying new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the Delhi-Toronto route, with all Toronto flights expected to feature upgraded cabin interiors by January 2027. These combined initiatives will add approximately 4,400 seats monthly between India and Canada and increase premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71%.

In total, the airline will operate 20 weekly flights between the two countries, serving Toronto and Vancouver. Executives noted that these updates aim to serve the vibrant Indian diaspora and provide more choice for travelers reuniting with family during the festive season.
