Romania Business Services Sector Generates 35.5 Billion Euros

Deloitte Romania reports the business services sector contributed 10% of the national economy, shifting toward high-value activities like AI and data analytics.

A study by Deloitte Romania for the Association of Business Service Leaders Romania identifies the business services industry as a strategic pillar of the national economy. The sector generated a gross value added of 35.5 billion euros last year, representing approximately 10% of Romania's total gross value added.

The market currently hosts over 1,000 service centers and 280,000 employees. The report highlights a transition from basic support services toward high-value activities, including artificial intelligence and data analytics. Romania maintains a competitive edge with a labor force of 8.3 million people, the second largest in Central and Eastern Europe, and labor productivity scores that exceed those of Poland and Slovakia.

While inflation persists, simulations indicate Romania will remain one of the most cost-effective European markets through 2030. The study also identifies expansion potential in cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, and Timisoara, moving beyond the capital. Industry leaders emphasize that the country has evolved into a mature market capable of supporting complex global transformation programs.
