JetBlue Cuts Florida Routes to Redeploy Aircraft

JetBlue Airways will end flight operations at Daytona Beach International Airport and discontinue service to Vero Beach by September 9 due to low passenger demand.

JetBlue Airways will terminate several Florida flight operations effective September 9, 2026, as part of a strategic shift to redeploy aircraft into markets with stronger demand. The airline is ending all operations at Daytona Beach International Airport and discontinuing its direct service between New York's JFK Airport and Vero Beach Regional Airport.

In Daytona Beach, the decision follows a return to the airport eight months prior. While the Daytona Beach International Airport reported recent passenger growth, the airline cited worsening financial performance and a desire to absorb demand vacated by Spirit Airlines, particularly in South Florida. In Vero Beach, the route launched in December 2025 but failed to meet expectations for boosting tourism to the Treasure Coast. JetBlue will maintain its existing route between Vero Beach and Boston.

JetBlue will notify affected customers directly and provide full refunds to the original form of payment.
