JSW MG Motor India Unveils ADAPT Platform and Expands Plant

JSW MG Motor India introduced the ADAPT modular vehicle platform and announced a 1,400 crore rupee investment to expand production capacity at its Halol plant.

JSW MG Motor India unveiled the Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology (ADAPT), a modular architecture designed to support battery electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and range-extender electric vehicles. The company plans to launch one electric vehicle and one plug-in hybrid model based on the platform by FY 2026-27, including two SUVs measuring over 4.3 meters in length. This rollout is part of a broader four-model launch plan for the current financial year.

Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra noted that demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) increased following fuel price hikes tied to the West Asia war. He expects NEVs to account for 70% to 80% of total sales this year. To support this growth, the automaker is investing 1,400 crore rupees in FY27 for product development and localization, as part of a larger 3,000 to 4,000 crore rupee capital expenditure program.

The company is expanding its Halol plant in Gujarat to increase annual production capacity from 120,000 units to 160,000 units by March 2027, with a long-term target of 300,000 units. The ADAPT architecture, based on a global platform from SAIC Motor, utilizes a 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and an energy management system that automatically toggles between electric and hybrid modes based on driving conditions.
