Ghana Fuel Prices Split With LPG Surge and Petrol Drop

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies projects lower petrol and diesel prices but a sharp increase in LPG costs effective October 16, 2026.

Fuel prices in Ghana will shift in divergent directions starting October 16, 2026. The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) forecasts a 1.67% reduction in petrol prices to GH¢17.67 per litre and a 3.32% decline in diesel prices to GH¢19.30 per litre. In contrast, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are projected to surge by 18.5% to GH¢20.60 per kilogramme.

These adjustments follow mixed international trends where diesel and petrol fell by 6.68% and 3.93% respectively, while LPG rose by 7.77%. COMAC noted that average crude oil prices increased by 2.03% due to geopolitical instability involving Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Ukraine. Additionally, a 1.61% depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the U.S. dollar is expected to partially offset the relief for motorists.

To guide the second October pricing window, the National Petroleum Authority adjusted regulatory price floors, lowering them for petrol and diesel while raising the LPG floor to GH¢13.87 per kilogramme. To moderate immediate cost effects, Tema Oil Refinery Ltd. and Sentuo Oil supplied refined products at prices from the previous window.
