Mayawati Announces BSP Will Contest Three State Elections Independently

The chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Mayawati, announced Tuesday that the party will contest upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand independently. During an organizational review meeting in Lucknow, she ruled out electoral alliances, stating that such partnerships cause the party to suffer losses in both seat counts and vote shares.

Mayawati directed party workers to strengthen grassroots structures at the booth level and mandated that candidates be selected based on their honesty and hard work. She emphasized that the party's goal is to advance policies providing the poor, unemployed, and marginalized sections with freedom from poverty and the opportunity to live with self-respect.

Beyond the immediate election strategy, the party is preparing for the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram on October 9 and the Jan Kalyankari Diwas on January 15, 2027. These events are intended to promote Ambedkarite ideology and policies supporting marginalized communities.
