Pakistan Raises Fuel Prices Under New Daily Pricing Framework

The Government of Pakistan increased the retail prices of petrol and high-speed diesel effective August 14, 2026. Under a revised daily pricing framework, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority implemented a price hike of Rs1.16 per liter for high-speed diesel and 45 paisas per liter for petrol. These adjustments set the new retail prices at Rs383.95 per liter for high-speed diesel and Rs325.43 per liter for petrol.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced the shift toward daily fuel pricing to manage market volatility caused by international oil price fluctuations, specifically citing hostilities between Iran and the United States. Despite the price adjustments, the government continues to maintain taxes and duties of Rs114 per liter on petrol and Rs100 per liter on diesel.

The All Pakistan Dealers Association has opposed the transition to daily pricing and is currently considering a protest plan in response to the policy change.
