Former Teacher Opens Niche Romance Bookstore in Atlanta

Kate McNeil opened All the Tropes, a niche romance bookstore in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, on August 17, 2024. A former theater teacher at Decatur High School, McNeil quit her teaching position in May 2024 and cashed in her retirement fund to finance the venture.

The store operates as a community hub for romance and romantasy readers, currently hosting eight active book clubs and providing space for local artists. Despite the opening of other competing romance bookstores within the city, McNeil reports that sales and foot traffic have remained steady.

Following this initial success, the business is preparing to move into a larger location and expand its current three-person staff.
