Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth announced a strategic objective to transform the Indian Air Force into the most powerful air force globally by 2047. Speaking at a defence sector gathering in New Delhi on July 30, Seth linked this military goal to the broader national ambition of becoming a developed nation by the same year.
Seth emphasized that the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative is central to building a self-reliant defence ecosystem through indigenous innovation and capabilities. He urged academia, startups, and defence manufacturers to focus on emerging technologies and the requirements of future warfare to maintain national security.
The minister stated that increasing the manufacturing sector's contribution to the GDP would enhance India's economic and strategic standing. He concluded by asserting that the nation is prepared to respond firmly to any threats against its sovereignty.
