Democratic Socialists of America candidates won approximately two-thirds of their endorsed contests in the November 4 elections, securing key local and federal seats.
Candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) won approximately two-thirds of their endorsed local, state, and federal races in the November 4 elections. Notable victories include Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez in New York, and Melat Kiros, who defeated incumbent Diana DeGette in a Colorado Democratic primary.
Following the results, DSA national co-chair Megan Romer identified ending the war with Iran as a primary policy goal. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani characterized the momentum as a fight for the people of the city against years of cruelty.
Republican Senator Pete Ricketts criticized the shift toward socialism, describing it as a false promise and arguing that the ideology does not work. Meanwhile, Jim Kessler of Third Way noted that while the DSA saw significant gains, moderate Democrats are expected to maintain dominance in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, both of which the Democratic Party retook as majorities.
