UK Treasury Allocates £20.4 Billion to State-Backed Lenders
HM Treasury will provide £20.4 billion in additional capital to the National Wealth Fund and British Business Bank to drive industrial growth.
HM Treasury will provide £20.4 billion in additional capital to two state-backed lenders as part of the upcoming budget. The funding consists of £15.4 billion for the National Wealth Fund and £5 billion for the British Business Bank, with the total amount to be allocated over approximately five years.
Finance Minister John Healey is expected to formally announce the measures on Wednesday. The investment targets strategic industries including artificial intelligence, defense, and green energy. The government aims to support approximately 100,000 jobs by 2035 and drive lasting growth across the country.
The Treasury stated that this additional capital will help more British businesses fulfil their potential while getting investment behind the industries, infrastructure and places that create good jobs.
