Meta Platforms, Inc. is spending $65 million during the 2026 midterm elections to support political candidates who favor the artificial intelligence industry. This investment marks a shift from the company's previous cautious approach to campaign engagement, aiming to prevent state-level legislation that could inhibit the development and growth of AI.
To execute this strategy, the company is funding two new super PACs. The Republican-focused Forge the Future Project is targeting congressional races in Texas, while the Democrat-focused Making Our Tomorrow is concentrating on races in Illinois.
This initiative aligns with a broader industry effort to establish a unified federal regulatory framework. Another group, the Leading the Future super PAC, has pledged $100 million to push for a single set of federal AI regulations intended to override restrictive state laws.
