SanDisk Corporation Unveils 9th-Gen 2Tb Flash Memory for AI
SanDisk Corporation and Kioxia released 9th-generation 2Tb QLC 3D flash memory chips designed for AI infrastructure, triggering a 7.2% increase in SanDisk stock.
SanDisk Corporation unveiled its 9th-generation high-performance 2Tb QLC 3D flash memory technology on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Developed in cooperation with Kioxia Corporation, the new chips target AI-driven infrastructure, specifically agent-based and physical AI applications such as robotics and self-driving vehicles.
The companies report that the 9th-generation chips provide a 33% increase in read and write speeds over the previous 8th-generation chips, alongside improved power efficiency.
Following the announcement, SanDisk Corporation stock rose 7.2% by 9:50 a.m. ET. This surge added nearly $14 billion to the company's market capitalization.
