Houthi Shelling Kills 5 Civilians in Taiz
Houthi militia forces killed five people and wounded 17 others during shelling attacks on residential areas and a hospital in Taiz, Yemen.
The Houthi militia killed five civilians and wounded 17 others during a 24-hour period of shelling and attacks in Taiz city and the surrounding countryside ending October 13, 2026. The fatalities occurred in the Haisban area of the Al-Misrakh district, including a five-year-old girl.
In Taiz city, the attacks injured 17 civilians, including six children, five women, and six elderly people. The shelling damaged seven residential homes and struck Al-Safwa Hospital in central Taiz, causing material damage to patient rooms and hospital departments and injuring one civilian. Additional shelling on Monday wounded five civilians, including three children, in residential neighborhoods.
The Taiz Governorate Human Rights Office documented the casualties and property damage. The militia continues to maintain a tight siege on the city, which has raised concerns regarding the deterioration of humanitarian conditions for vulnerable populations.
