China and Europe Report Surge in Tourism and Business

China and European nations report a mutual increase in tourism and business cooperation driven by visa-free policies and expanded financial and hospitality partnerships.

China and several European nations are experiencing a mutual surge in tourism and business cooperation throughout 2026. The National Immigration Administration reported that China's unilateral visa-free policy, which grants 30-day access to citizens of over 30 European countries including France, Germany, and Italy, resulted in 17.8 million visa-free entries in the first half of the year, a 30.6 percent increase.

Chinese travel to Europe is also growing, fueled by cultural interests and events such as Spain's World Cup victory. This growth is supported by expanded air connectivity from carriers including Air China and Juneyao Air. To facilitate these arrivals, the European Travel Commission, Mastercard, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China launched a co-branded credit card in February to streamline payments for Chinese visitors.

Further integration occurred in the hospitality sector in June, when Accor SA and H World Group expanded their loyalty platform cooperation. This partnership aims to better serve travelers across China, Europe, and the Middle East.
