CrossCountry Launches Digital Priority Seating Card for Disabled Passengers
CrossCountry introduced a free digital Priority Seating Card for Apple and Android wallets to help passengers with non-visible disabilities discreetly request priority seats.
CrossCountry launched an industry-first digital Priority Seating Card to improve accessibility for passengers with both visible and non-visible disabilities on long-distance train services. The free tool integrates with Apple Wallet and Android Wallet, allowing travelers to discreetly communicate their need for priority seating, which is located near doors and toilets.
The initiative was developed based on feedback from the CrossCountry Access Panel, an independent body that identifies accessibility gaps. The digital card complements existing physical priority cards, which remain available through rail operators and partner organizations.
Company officials stated the goal is to empower passengers to express their needs more confidently and foster courtesy among other travelers. The digital transition aims to reduce the discomfort some passengers feel when asking for a seat, specifically those whose health conditions are not immediately apparent.
