Samsung Electronics Reports Record 107.4 Trillion Won Quarterly Profit

Samsung Electronics reported a record quarterly operating profit of 107.4 trillion won and approved a 30 trillion won dividend to reward shareholders.

Samsung Electronics reported a record operating profit of 107.4 trillion won (approximately $77.5 billion) for the quarter ending September, becoming the first technology company to exceed 100 trillion won in a single quarter. The results were driven by the Device Solutions division, which earned 106.5 trillion won due to high demand for AI accelerators and high-bandwidth memory (HBM4). Conversely, the Device Experience division, which handles appliances and smartphones, reported an operating loss of approximately 0.8 trillion won.

To address a mismatch between record financial performance and a sluggish share price, the board approved a third-quarter cash dividend of 30 trillion won, or 4,601 won per share for both common and preferred shares. This payout represents a more than 12-fold increase over the first and second quarters and is payable on November 27. The company plans to distribute the remainder of its 2026 shareholder-return target, estimated between 55 trillion and 75 trillion won, through additional buybacks and dividends.

Beyond shareholder returns, Samsung and five affiliates invested $1 billion into Helix Digital Infrastructure, a data center platform backed by KKR. Despite the record earnings, shares slipped in Seoul as investors weighed competition with SK hynix and the long-term sustainability of the memory chip cycle.
