Saudi Aramco Acquires 49% Stake in AI Firm HUMAIN
Saudi Aramco invested $2.6 billion for a 49% stake in HUMAIN to integrate artificial intelligence into industrial operations and expand Saudi Arabia's data center capacity.
Saudi Aramco acquired a 49% stake in HUMAIN, an artificial intelligence company launched in May 2025, for approximately SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion). The Public Investment Fund (PIF) retains a 51% controlling interest in the firm. The transaction, completed in early November 2026, includes cash contributions alongside the transfer of digital, computing, and AI assets.
The partnership aims to establish a globally competitive AI ecosystem, with HUMAIN targeting the deployment of 3 gigawatts of data center capacity by 2030. As part of its technical development, HUMAIN is creating ALLaM, a multimodal large language model specifically for Arabic-language applications.
Aramco intends to leverage this infrastructure to develop industrial applications and enhance global operations. The company noted that AI solutions have already contributed significantly to $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value since 2023. For PIF, the deal consolidates AI investment portfolios to foster intellectual property creation and talent growth, aligning with a 2026-2030 strategy to establish Saudi Arabia as a global AI hub.
