Jaecoo 7 Becomes UK's Best-Selling Car in September
The Jaecoo 7 SUV topped UK new-car sales in September, as Chinese manufacturers now account for 23% of all new-car deliveries in the country.
The Jaecoo 7 SUV became the best-selling new car in Britain for September 2026, recording 10,813 deliveries. The model surpassed the Tesla Model 3 and Ford Puma to top the charts for the second time this year, following a previous peak in March.
Preliminary data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders indicates that Chinese manufacturers now represent 23% of all new-car deliveries in the United Kingdom. This growth includes BYD becoming the second best-selling brand in the market, while established makers such as Ford, Hyundai, and Renault experienced sales declines. Total UK registrations for September reached 350,518 units, the highest for the month since 2017, supported by a record 99,199 battery-electric vehicle deliveries.
Despite the sales surge, the Jaecoo 7 ranked as the sixth least dependable model in a What Car? reliability survey due to reported electrical and infotainment faults. In response, parent company Chery Group has committed to improving warranty terms and expanding its parts distribution network.
