Inditex Launches Budget Brand Lefties in United Kingdom

Inditex opened its first Lefties store in Liverpool to compete with value retailers using automated robotics and accessible pricing.

Inditex, the parent company of Zara, expanded its budget-friendly fashion chain Lefties into the United Kingdom with the opening of a first store in Liverpool on August 21, 2026. The brand intends to compete with value retailers including Primark, Shein, and supermarket labels by providing clothing and homewares at accessible prices.

The Liverpool outlet utilizes advanced robotics to lower staffing costs, featuring automated garment and hanger sorting systems alongside self-checkouts capable of scanning entire baskets. While Lefties originally functioned as an outlet for unsold Zara inventory, it now carries its own independent product range.

Inditex plans to open two more UK stores this year in Essex and near Newcastle, with further expansion scheduled for 2027. This move follows the brand's entry into France and Italy and precedes a planned launch in Germany during the spring.
