PLA Hong Kong Garrison Celebrates 99th Anniversary
The People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison held a reception at Stonecutters Island Barracks to mark the military's 99th anniversary and bolster regional defense capabilities.
The Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army hosted a reception at Stonecutters Island Barracks on August 2, 2026, to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army. The celebration coincided with the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory.
Political Commissar Lai Ruxin addressed the gathering, calling on the garrison to enhance its defense capabilities. He stated that these improvements are necessary to safeguard the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
Chief Executive John Lee attended the event alongside other high-ranking officials. Lee thanked the garrison for its ongoing support of the development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
